London City Brass would like to tell the story of a young man who lives in a beautiful red castle surrounded by ancient beech woods.
One day he receives the call to arms to be a soldier in a far off land. He knows his family will try to talk him out of going to war, so he waits until they are all asleep before slipping away from the castle in the dead of night....
The next time we see him, he’s a member of the Union army, fighting in the American Civil War. Back at camp each evening, to keep their spirits up, the soldiers sing battle hymns and spirituals - songs re-created by many years later by the King himself, Elvis Aaron Presley, on his Hawaiian tour of 1973....
Who are we?
London City Brass is a progressive, enthusiastic band who rehearse in the City of London on Wednesday evenings. We're based at St. Margaret Pattens church, Rood Lane, London EC3M 1HS
We’re not strictly a contesting band, but we are all registered as contesting players and have competed for the last two years in the French Open contest gaining 3rd (2018) and 2nd place (2019) in our section. Sadly the 2020 contest didn't happen, but we'll be going in 2021.
